Travis's Story
Travis Vaughn is pictured above with his son, who is now 5 years old. He and his wife Morgan are currently expecting their 2nd child. On January 25th, 2012, Travis was the passenger in an auto accident involving an intoxicated driver. The intoxicated driver, with 2 prior DUI's, walked away unharmed.
Travis sustained an injury to his spinal cord (C5-C6) which left him paralyzed.
Unfortunately, the intoxicated driver was improperly insured so recovery will likely be difficult and time intensive. Following his release from the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit at the Houston Medical Center, Travis continued his rehabilitation therapy at TIRR (The Institute for Rehabilitation & Research) Prior to his injury Travis was an electrician for the John Moore Service Company in Houston. The John Moore Service Company is a contractor who provides HVAC, electrical, plumbing, pest control, home security and remodeling services to customers in the greater Houston, Bryan and College Station areas.

Travis faces many challenges ahead and like most spinal cord injury patients, is faced with a number of immediate needs. One of the largest and most pressing needs was for a handicapped accessible van, as Travis lives beyond the reach of the Metro Lift boundaries. That leaves him homebound and without the ability to get to doctors appointments etc.
Thanks to all of your donations, the foundation was able to grant Travis's request.
Following delivery of the vehicle, Travis's wife sent us the following e-mail. Thank you so much! I would say you have no idea how much your assistance helps us but you probably do. It seems really trivial I'm sure to those who aren't in this situation. Without your generous assistance, we'd be spending the remainder of our savings and my father in laws 401K on a high mileage or unreliable vehicle. The last thing we need to worry about is breaking down with my husband on the road or not being able to make appointments which are so crucial to Travis's recovery. We've actually not been able to find transportation for Travis up until now so again, we can't thank you enough!
