ONGOING SUPPORT IN OKLAHOMA

The impact of natural disasters on families living with permanent disabilities can cause profound delays in restoring their homes. This was the case of for the Clark family when severe storms in southern Oklahoma damaged their roof, causing multiple leaks throughout their home.

Lance Clark was a foreman at CK Steel Buildings before he became paralyzed from the waist down. The former foreman’s neck injuries stem from a accident jumping off the bluffs at Lake Texoma, leaving him as a C5/6 quadriplegic. As his household is primarily supported off of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Medicaid, the unexpected expense placed a long-term financial strain on the family.

Lance and his wife, Jennifer, remain steadfast in overcoming life’s obstacles. In 2018, they received a grant from the foundation to remodel their bathroom, allowing Lance to take showers more independently and more frequently. Encouraged by that experience, they petitioned the foundation again for help during this emergency situation.

The foundation is no stranger to severe weather that impacts central U.S., as we are based in Texas. Thanks to our growing number of supporters, were able to deliver a solution for Lance’ leaking roof. Through our network of contractors and donors, we provided a new Owens Corning Oakridge laminated roof for Lance and his family.
