Alicia Reagan’s story is one of determination and new beginnings. After a sudden illness in 2009 left her paralyzed, she continued building a career in marketing and design while supporting her family and working alongside her brother in the HVAC industry.
Alicia first learned about The Joseph Groh Foundation through the grant page of the United Spinal Association website in 2021. Joe, the Foundation’s namesake, is a blog writer and newsletter contributor for the North Texas chapter of the United Spinal Association. When she initially reached out, she was seeking a concrete pad at her apartment, a safer way to access her vehicle when transferring to and from her powerchair. The Foundation made this possible through the generosity of its donors.
With her connections in the construction industry, Alicia was able to build a home for herself and asked The Joseph Groh Foundation to work with her brother’s firm, Neal’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Lafayette, Georgia, to help pay for the HVAC system and installation costs required for her new home. Joe worked with the Trane Company, which donated an HVAC system, and her brother, who donated his labor at cost. Through their ongoing support, the Foundation’s generous donors ultimately funded the materials and labor needed to turn Alicia’s dream home into a reality.
